An Elevator Pitch allows you to communicate what you do and who you serve in a quick statement. It should be simple and jargon free.
Formula for a Pitch
- Who are you – Define your story so they understand and connect with you.
- Who you help – define the audience.
- What you help them to do – What pain do you solve? Has to be THEIR pain.
- What is the transformation – What do you help them become? Specifics of what you do.
My Elevator Pitch / My Platform
I’m a entrepreneur who doesn’t miss the corporate rut. I help mid-and -executive-level professionals take ownership of their lives, time, and money by teaching them how to become a “Company of One” so they can live their purpose and reach their potential.
The expected results:
- They move from the world of employee to the world of owner. They now think like the CEO of them, and therefore perform at a higher level.
- They are in control. Making their own decisions based on their own priorities.
- They take responsibility for their choices and the results.
- They clearly see they have choices. They are no longer victims of the system.
- They are free to decide on where they go and how they get there. They begin to find and follow their own priorities and passions.
How this works for You
1. For those who are in high school and college and their parents:
You begin to see your educational path not as the end in itself, but as a tool for a larger goal. You get off the factory assembly-line approach of modern education – following what everyone else does – and decide where YOU want to go and how to best get there.
The results:
- You take personal responsibility for YOUR education and YOUR career today – Even before you start working.
- You have educational choices and learn to look past the marketing messages of universities to learn what is truly required to get to where you want to go.
- You decide on a course of action, prepare, execute, and enjoy the ride.
- Along the way you develop a love for learning and growing.
2. For those who have wounds from the world of work, who are stepping back and wondering what is next:
You learn that you are a company of one. You are a business owner. You are an entrepreneur. And, most likely, you will realize you have been a lousy CEO of the business of you. But take heart. Realization is the key. Once you see clearly that you are in fact in charge, you can now take charge.
Strategy: Learn how to make strategic decisions about your income, where it comes from today and tomorrow. Learn to market yourself and lead yourself. Define your customers and what they need and value. But, most important, set a path and a plan that is uniquely you.
Operations: This may be your strength. You have performed well in your role. Yet, you may have unknowingly communicated many negative messages. Now turn those messages around. Communicate to others:
- That you are able to grow past where you are today.
- That you are not just an employee, but you operate and think like an owner.
- That you continue to ad value.
- That you are loyal, and will only leave under clear terms of mutual benefit.
- That you have real relationships with your customers.
Marketing: You most likely have done a poor job here. Change it all by identifying your internal customer’s needs and continue to communicate to them how you have added value. Help your customers measure your performance.
Financial: Based on national data, most of you are over your head financially. If you are not, congrats! But for most, you owe more than you have. You live paycheck to paycheck. Turn this around and use simple steps to get your financial life back.
Research: Something is killing your career, and most of us are blind to what it is or how fast it is coming. You are heads down and hard working, but the hoofs rushing behind you are getting louder. You are not aware of the threats or the new opportunities coming for them. Using some simple tools and a sense or personal thinking, you can not only be ready, but you can change the game. By seeing what is coming next, you can be riding the new wave and not crashing on the dying wave.
